Principal's Message

Welcome to Marshfield Junior High!

I am so excited to open the doors to our beautiful new building and usher in the new school year for our staff and students.  A huge THANK YOU to the patrons of the Coos Bay School District for providing us our new school.  A special thank you as well to all of the workers that spent countless hours making this happen for our students.  It is a wonderful addition to our community and to our school district.  The students of Marshfield Junior High are so fortunate to be the first to walk the halls and learn from our wonderful teachers in their new spaces.

Due to a short turnaround from the day we received the keys and to the start of the school year, we were limited in the opportunity to have a proper “Open House”.  We will therefore make a slight adjustment to the start of the academic year.  Tuesday, September 7th will be the first day of school for only 7th graders.  Wednesday, September 8th will be only 8th graders.  Both grades will return on September 9th.  This will provide a less hectic start with half of the student population in the building on day one, and help our students feel a little more comfortable.

Unfortunately, we are still not out of the woods in terms of the COVID pandemic.  The upcoming school year will certainly continue to challenge us all in how we run our daily operations, but the safety of our students and staff continues to be at the forefront.  We are determined to provide a full day, seven period schedule that includes five core classes and two electives.  The expectation remains that staff and students will follow safety guidance that includes wearing a mask, frequent handwashing and sanitizing, and social distancing.  Together we will work to keep the Home of Buccaneers as safe as we can!

If you were not able to attend our in-person registration last week, please contact the office and speak with Mrs. Waite or Mrs. Reiber to ensure that all of the information for your student is correct.  Please do continue to check the school webpage at www.marshfieldjhs@cbd9.net and the Marshfield Junior High Facebook page for updated and recent news.

I am looking forward to a great year at Marshfield Junior High.  Please do not hesitate to call or email if I can be of any assistance.  Together, let’s make this a safe and productive school year.

Sincerely,

Mr. Montiel

September 29, 2021 Superintendent Update

As we have been able to successfully manage the impact cases so far, we will continue with in-person learning in all our schools. Although our county cases remain high, they have begun to decrease. We hope to see this trend continue moving forward.
